Bhagat Singh was a charismatic Indian socialist revolutionary whose two acts of dramatic violence against the British in India and execution at age 23 made him a folk hero of the Indian independence movement. Bhagat Singh along with his associates Sukhdev and Rajguru became popular folk heroes after their death. They sacrificed their lives for the independence of India and continued to inspire even after their death. They became symbols. While their act was forgotten over the years, the symbol remained. Even today many towns and villages of the Punjab, and to a lesser extent in the rest of northern India, have memorials for them.

This lionisation in popular art of the heroic trio continues even today. Witness this brand new Shaheed Chowk installed by team ergo d novate at Vallabh Vidyanagar It is a public space at the educational township of Vallabh Vidyanagar. The objective clearly being to create an inspiring public installation. Team ergo d novate introduce the achievements by Indian Freedom Fighters for re-igniting patriotic values in civil society and youth at large. The attempt here by the designer’s is to exude a subtle sense of patriotism (BHAGAT SINGH) : sacrifice (SUKHDEV) and courage (RAJGURU) – in young generation who will be the future of our nation and the cross road junction.
